Prodige du Tombak, Mohammad Reza Mortazavi débute à 6 ans et, dès 9 ans, dépasse déjà l’enseignement de son maître. Il remporte sept fois le prestigieux concours iranien de Tombak avant d’être reconnu, à 20 ans, comme l’un des meilleurs percussionnistes au monde. Révolutionnant son art avec plus de 30 nouvelles techniques, il conquiert l’Europe avec des performances saisissantes, jouant dans des salles emblématiques comme la Philharmonie de Berlin. Lauréat du prix RUTH en 2003, il multiplie les tournées internationales et enflamme les scènes de festivals prestigieux. Avec Transformation et d’autres albums majeurs, il continue d’élever la percussion à un niveau inégalé.
