Koumiya

Koumiya is a French-Moroccan DJ, producer, singer and musician based in Marseille (fr).

She refuses to choose, blends influences, bends languages, and creates a hybrid sound nourished by bass, rap, lo-fi melancholy, and collective anger. Whether in the club or the studio, by night or day, Koumiya inhabits an unruly, emotive, and tense sound. She shapes a sonic landscape where words assert themselves amid poly-rhythms and massive bass, telling an emancipatory and combative poetry. Koumiya takes her name from a dagger emblematic of Amazigh cultures in Morocco.
