Daphnée Denis is a French-Colombian writer and video journalist whose work has spanned Latin America, the United States, and Europe. She’s fluent in French, English, and Spanish and has worked in those three languages since the start of her career. She currently works as the editor-in-chief of Tracks, a show on cultural resistance that airs on the European channel ARTE, and is a regular contributor to Kinfolk. A video correspondent covering Latin America for the AFP news agency at the start of her career, she was later appointed at the helm of the Latin American video department of Spanish newspaper EL PAIS (based out of Mexico), where her work focused on violence against women. She then spearheaded efforts to expand Europe’s fastest-growing online media organization, the French media startup Brut, in the United States and Spanish-speaking countries, overseeing both news coverage and more ambitious projects, including launching an award-winning documentary team. Daphnée is a regular contributor to Kinfolk magazine and is currently writing a book on maternalism, the cult of motherhood, and its political implications in Latin America. Her work has appeared on the BBC, Monocle Magazine, Slate, and Slate France.
