Day 3

Born in Belgium, Nazar returned to Angola, his father’s homeland, after the end of the civil war. It was at this point that he began producing music and invented his own genre, Rough Kuduro, an interpretation of the Angolan dance music style, which he “militarized” on his first EP Enclave, transforming the normally upbeat kuduro to reveal the darker side he had witnessed in his country.

In 2020, he released Guerrilla, a recounting of his personal story and a family legacy marked by war.

His latest album, Demilitarize (2025, Hyperdub), reveals a new vision of his music, featuring Auto-Tuned vocals and R&B-inspired sounds, a project with an almost science-fictional quality.
