Ti’kaniki

The Ti'kaniki collective, half Réunionese and half metropolitan, was born out of the need for zorey (metropolitan) musicians to bring maloya, the traditional music of Réunion, to life in the city of Lyon. In this group, there is no fixed lead singer; everyone sings and plays the different percussion instruments in a passing game in which everyone finds their place. Thanks to their perseverance and hard work, artists from Réunion and other far-flung musical groups have been invited to share their repertoire with Ti'kaniki, for exclusive creations each time. Bridges are being built from this promising maloya to Cameroonian bahanen, Afro-Colombian currulao and Cuban rumba, while always respecting this unique culture and energy.
