Founded nearly 30 years ago by JG Wilkes and the late JD Twitch, Optimo (Espacio) quickly gained worldwide recognition for their ecstatic DJ sets, which defied genres and the boundaries of traditional club music, as demonstrated by the legendary mix How To Kill The DJ (part 2) released in 2004, and their legendary parties held every Sunday from 1997 to 2010 at Glasgow's respected Sub Club. A compulsive digger and sound traveller, Optimo (Espacio), now led by JG Wilkes, is joined by Paula Tape for Nuits Sonores for an unprecedented back-to-back set. Growing up in Chile, she began her musical career as a drummer, which is evident in her percussive sets, broadening the panorama of complex rhythms and eclectic sounds. An event organiser, resident DJ on Gilles Peterson's prestigious Worldwide FM, and active in the Tempo Dischi label, Paula Tape is as comfortable on the underground scene as she is at the world's biggest festivals.
