Ibaaku defines himself as a builder of sonic universes, exploring the potential of audio through collaborative and interdisciplinary work in fields such as fashion and performance art. He started out in the Senegalese hip-hop scene in the early 2000s as a rapper, producer and singer, and went on to produce a number of musical projects and join several groups in Dakar's alternative scene (LZ3, Les Petites Pierres, Laboratoire Agit'Art).Since 2016, he has been a rising figure in electronic and experimental music on the African continent, and since 2020, he has also been a founding member of Kenu: Lab'Oratoire des Imaginaires, an art space that explores the imagination, social practices and traditional knowledge of Ouakam society. And he recently co-founded with Alibeta the 1st music label dedicated to contemporary and electronic music in Senegal: Miziku Tey Records.
